INKE Intros Auto Inkjet Refilling System in India
Singapore-based Inke Pte Ltd is set to launch its automatic inkjet refiller system in India. The company has tied up with Chennai-based Jai Infosystem to launch this product in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
The new AIR system has an environmental-friendly design, is light, convenient and operates on a one-touch mode. The clean, unmessy operation also results in substantial savings to the customer without any capital cost to him. Touted as a ‘no human interference model’, this system needs no modification of the cartridge.
Ram Subramanian, director-operations, Jai Infosystem, said, “INKE has appointed us as the master franchisee in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry for the product. In turn, we are looking at about 100 dealers or franchisees who can take this product to the customer.”
Jai Infosystem is looking at establishing about 100 refiller points for the customers in a phased manner. The service points would be manned by the partner, who would be responsible for the refilling process. Subramanian said, “The partners would undergo a brief three-day training program from our end to learn the concept and operation of our product. We would be providing our partners with adequate margin to develop their own small reseller network. This, in turn, would help us to penetrate the end-user and the SMB market better.”
The ink would be available in the standard colors namely, black, cyan, magenta and yellow. At present, there are 13 different refiller machines available for 13 different printer models, all of which would be stationed at each of the refiller points.
Additionally, Subramaniam said, the partners would be provided with 13 backup machines to avoid delays in the event of any damages.
“We have tested ink from these ink refiller systems and found it to be compatible with the inkjet models of Lexmark, Canon, HP, Xerox, among others. We are now testing compatibilty with the Epson models as well. The approvals are being awaited from their end,” Subramaniam said.
The current MRP of the ink is Rs 200 for 40 ml of black ink and Rs 140 (TNGST excluded) for 20 ml of color ink. These costs, Subramaniam said, are less than one-third the cost of a brand new cartridge.
“The AIR systems are fully imported by us; we will be selling only the ink at the sales tax rates applicable here. We are also awaiting a faourable duty structure for the imports in the near future,” Subramaniam said, adding the company plans to expand its business in the entire southern region if the response is good in the next six months.
To generate awareness of the product and the concept, Jai Infosystem has launched an advertizing campaigns. “We have planned exhibitions and roadshows. INKE personnel will be joining us for some of these activities shortly,” Subramanian said.
