Environmentally Friendly, Low Cost Refills for Ink and Toner CartridgesNew Central Square,
Cambridge location will also serve as InkTec Zone’s base for franchising across
the U.S.CAMBRIDGE, Mass.–March, 2005– An astounding one million inkjet
cartridges are thrown away every day, adding 60,000 tons of empty ink jet
cartridges to landfills each year. InkTec Zone America Corp. hopes to reduce
that number as it celebrates the grand opening of its flagship store in
Cambridge, MA today. Located in Central Square, InkTec Zone will offer refilled
and remanufactured printer cartridges for leading printer brands, at savings up
to 50%.
The honorable Michael A. Sullivan, Mayor of Cambridge, will preside over a
formal ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the occasion at InkTec Zone’s
Massachusetts Avenue location. The ceremony will be held in conjunction with the
Cambridge Chamber of Commerce.
“InkTec gives businesses and consumers in the metropolitan area an
alternative to costly printer cartridges. We provide a high quality and
environmentally friendly alternative – with significant price savings,” said
InkTec Zone America CEO and President Bill McKenney.
InkTec Zone America Corp. was jointly founded by McKenney and InkTec Co.,
Ltd., a publicly traded Korean company with a long history in the ink and toner
market. The concept of refilling ink and toner cartridges has already been
proven through our efforts in Asia,” explained CS Choi, Senior Director of
InkTec Co. “Now we can offer U.S. consumers this cheaper and more
environmentally friendly alternative.” The U.S. market for ink and toner is
large – $4.15 billion in 2003 (Source: The NPD Group), but largely untapped.
InkTec Zone is launching its franchise development program simultaneously
with the opening of the flagship store. Led by Alfred Naddaff, this program
looks to build InkTec Zone stores throughout the U.S. Potential franchisees from
Rhode Island, Florida, Texas, Virginia and Maryland have expressed interest even
before the program was fully launched.
