Lexmark plays “hunt the lowest cost country” game
Mexico too expensive, apparently
UK:October
2007,PRINTER FIRM Lexmark will shut down some of its facilities in
Mexico.Over 1,650 people will lost their jobs in Mexico, while,
according to the Wall Street Journal , Lexmark will find jobs for
people in countries that cost less.It didn’t say which countries it was
targeting – last year it enraged Jock McFrock, our bekilted engineer,
by closing a printer cartridge factory in Bonnie Scotland.Lexmark only
made a Q3 profit of $45.2 million and that resulted in net profit
falling by about a half.Where will it all end? It will end in tears,
that’s where.
