OfficeMax Opens New Distribution Center in Puerto Rico

2006 — OfficeMax Inc., Itasca, Ill., announced that it will open a new
100,000-sq.-ft. distribution center in Carolina, Puerto Rico in October
2006. The center will provide more immediate access to office supply,
technology, paper and furniture products and new, responsive delivery
options for all OfficeMax retail stores and business customers in
Puerto Rico. “We will be able to better serve our current customers,
but will also start serving new categories of customers,” said Jose
Torres, vice president and managing director of OfficeMax Puerto Rico
& USVI Operations. The distribution center personnel will bring the
number of local Puerto Rico employees to more than 500. OfficeMax has
served Puerto Rico since 1994 and now operates 10 retail store
locations with hundreds of business contract customers in the area.

expanded space and technology at the centre to increase its offering to
local businesses. The centre, which creates more than 500 new jobs,
will stock 5,000 items from the major product categories including
products sourced from Puerto Rican providers.’Max has been operating a
contract business in Puerto Rico for since 1994 and has ten retail
outlets in the country.
