Canon Europa N.V. and NexPress Solutions, Inc., a Kodak company, today announced a three-year sales, distribution and service agreement for digital production monochrome presses.

Under the agreement, Canon Europa will have the option to sell the range of NEXPRESS black-and-white digital production systems in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. NexPress designs and manufactures this award-winning product family, and will provide accessories, software, and service parts to Canon Europe. Canon will be offering consultation to customers, tailoring the products to work as part of an efficient workflow solution.

NexPress and Canon also have sales and service agreements for the NexPress black-and-white production systems in the United States and Japan. At the drupa 2004 trade show in May, Canon, Inc. and NexPress announced a number of areas where the two companies are collaborating to develop workflow solutions designed to promote the development of network based digital printing.

"NexPress' digital monochrome press technology offers our customers remarkably high quality, productivity and versatility. We believe our agreement with NexPress will help Canon continue to expand its presence in the graphic arts and professional printing industry throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East," said Hajime Tsuroka, president and CEO, Canon Europa.

"With Canon's strong brand and consultative approach to business in these regions, we expect this agreement to help NexPress expand its global customer presence," said Venkat Purushotham, president and CEO, NexPress.

NexPress is part of Kodak's Graphic Communications Group, which holds one of the industry's broadest portfolios of digital printing to serve customer needs from wide format inkjet printing and transactional black-and-white and color printing, to high-end on-demand color publishing and continuous inkjet.

"We are pleased to extend our relationship with Canon, one that has been successful on many fronts – from technology development to sales on a global basis," said James Langley, president, Graphic Communications Group, and senior vice president, Eastman Kodak Company. "Our relationship with Canon will bring powerful digital printing solutions and services to our respective customers."
