Max reveals sluggish Q3 sales
NOV.2005 – Itasca (IL): OfficeMax has posted its Q3 results, revealing a loss due to weak sales and lost revenue from the sale of its paper and forest products businesses.
The company reported a net loss of $3.9 million, or EPS of $0.07, compared to a profit of $62.2 million, or EPS of $0.64, a year earlier. Sales fell 37 per cent to $2.29 billion from $3.65 billion recorded in Q3 2004.
The company said that last years results included the Boise Building Solutions and Boise Paper Solutions segments, which it sold in October last year.
‘Max also revealed that same-store sales were “slightly negative” from last year due to uneven BTS sales and low growth in most product categories
