Oki Data Announces Environment-Friendly Printer Supplies Return Program

Oki Data Americas, Inc., a leading manufacturer of color and monochrome digital printers, serial impact dot matrix printers, fax machines and multifunction products, today announced that it is implementing a new toner cartridge and Image drum recycling initiative, continuing its company wide commitment to preserving the environment.

This initiative is designed to provide a quick and easy method for OKI printer customers to return their used printer supplies. When supplies are depleted, customers simply remove the spent toner cartridges or image drums from the printer, seal them in the original supplies packaging, affix a shipping label provided by Oki Data and ship the package via prepaid delivery. Shipping labels are available via download at U http://www.okidata.com/U and are also being inserted in product packaging.

Available in both the U.S. and Canada, this new OKI Eco Program allows customers to ship selected used supplies to Oki Data’s central reclamation center. Customers in the U.S. can mail the supplies with a prepaid/preaddressed UPS label, while customers in Canada can ship the supplies via Purolator delivery.

“Oki Data understands the social importance of conducting our business in an environmentally conscious manner and throughout our history, we have always remained committed to protecting the environment,” said Lisa Boblenz, Product Marketing Manager for Consumables, Media and Alliance Products, Oki Data Americas. “The new toner and image drum recycling program is yet another step in our support for global ecology. We look forward to continuing to do our part by striving to find new and better ways to help preserve the environment.”

The following product lines qualify under the OKI Eco Program:

    — Color LED Toners and Image Drums – C5100/5300, C7200/7400, C7300/7500, C9200/9400, C9300/9500

    — mono LED Image Drums Only – B4200/4300, OP14e/14ex/14i

    Oki Data’s Environmentally Friendly History

OKI printers are designed to consume up to 50 percent less energy when they are idle and each OKI printer is qualified to carry the Energy Star(R) EPA Pollution Prevention logo. Other environmentally friendly initiatives undertaken by Oki Data include:

    — Oki Data has implemented recycling programs for its printers and supplies worldwide

    — Several OKI digital LED monochrome page printers and faxes feature a system that recycles toner back into a reservoir that is reused

    — More than 1500 tons of waste from Oki Data’s U.S. manufacturing and office operations has been recycled rather than sent to landfills
