Revenue for printers, copiers, MFPs to reach €48.8bn in 2005
Worldwide revenue for
printer, copiers and multi-function products (MFP) is forecast to
surpass €48.8bn in 2005, up 4.5 per cent from last year, according to a
report from IT market research firm Gartner. Worldwide shipments for
these products are projected to surpass 124.7m units in 2005, a 7.8 per
cent increase from 2004 shipments.
Manufacturers are focused on transitioning their customers from
monochrome devices to colour. The colour laser printer market and the
colour laser MFP segments will be the high growth areas.
Less than six per cent of the pages printed in the office are colour
pages. While the colour segment offers promising opportunities,
manufacturers face the challenge of getting corporations to transfer to
colour devices.
In the consumer segment, digital photography is driving demand for colour devices.
Worldwide sales of printer, copiers and MFPs will continue steady
growth through 2009. By the end of 2009, worldwide shipments are
forecast to surpass 148.9m units, while revenue will exceed €49.6bn.
