Regulators recall NCR inkjet kits for child hazard

WASHINGTON Sept 15 – Federal regulators on Wednesday recalled about 78,000 NCR inkjet refill kits because they lack child-resistant packaging and warning labels.

NCR Corp. made the NCR Universal Inkjet Refill Kits containing ethylene glycol, which poses an ingestion hazard to young children, according to the company and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The black ink kits have model numbers 943264 and 999292 and contain four plastic bottles of black ink, two plastic bottles of cleaning fluid and a toolkit. The color ink kits have model number 999289 printed on the side panel above the UPC code and contain six plastic bottles of colored ink, two plastic bottles of cleaning solution and a toolkit.

The products were sold for about $12 at Walgreen Co. and Big Lots Inc. nationwide from April 2004 to June 2004.

The kits should be secured out of reach of young children and returned to stores for refund or a free replacement kit. Consumers can contact NCR Corp. at 1-800-279-0203, via e-mail at systemedia.info@NCR.com or its Web site http://www.ncr.com
