Ricoh offers new color laser printers
Ricoh Corp. on Thursday introduced the AficioCL7200andCL7300 color laser
printers, designed for office and workgroup environments. The CL7200 costs
US$3,495, while the CL7300 costs $5,095.
The printers both feature true 1200 x 1200 dot per inch (DPI) output
resolution, as well as 1200 x 600 and 600 x 600DPI resolutions. The printers
both come standard with 256MB RAM and can be equipped with 512MB RAM total
(there’s one free slot). Network protocols supported include TCP/IP, Novell
IPX/SPX, SMB (NetBEUI, Net BIOS over TCP/IP) and AppleTalk.
They can handle paper capacities up to 3,100 sheets, and depending on what
trays are used, can accommodate paper sizes including 8.5 x 11-inch, 8.5 x
14-inch, 11 x 17-inch, 7.5 x 10.5-inch, 8 x 13-inch, 8.25 x 13-inch, 8.5 x
13-inch, A5, A4 and A3.
Features include support for Adobe PostScript3, PCL 5c, PCL 6 and RPCS print
languages, 10/100base-T Ethernet and USB 2.0. Wireless (802.11b), FireWire 400
and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity are also options. The CL7200 can output 28
pages per minute (PPM) color and 32PPM black and white; the CL7300 can output
35PPM color and 35PPM black and white. The printers also support duplex mode,
which lets users print on both sides of the paper.
SmartDeviceMonitor encrypts data sent to the printer using Internet Printing
Protocol (IPP), to help reduce the risk of information theft, according to
Ricoh. When the new printers are paired with Ricoh’s optional IS300 Image
Scanner, they can also manage scan-to-e-mail, scan-to-folder, scan-to-FTP, TWAIN
scanning and scan-to-print capabilities.
