Cabot Corp. reportedly to build $100M plant in Romania

Corp. reportedly plans to build a $100 million plant in Romania to
produce carbon black, a substance used in printer ink cartridges,
pigment, paint and rubber goods.The Boston company has given no time
line for the plant’s construction, according to a report in the
Romanian newspaper Ziarul Financiar, which attributed the information
to a senior government official. Cabot Corp. could not be reached
immediately by the Boston Business Journal.In the past few years, Cabot
has built large carbon-black factories in China and Brazil, and has
closed one in Australia. The company sold $1.5 billion in carbon black
in its most recent fiscal year, approximately 70 percent of its total
revenue.Cabot currently has only one facility in the Eastern Europe,
located in the Czech Republic.
