SEC completes OfficeMax probe

2007 — Washington (DC): The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
has completed its probe into OfficeMax’s accounting for vendor income
and has said that no enforcement action is required.In December 2004
the retailer launched an internal review following claims from a vendor
accusing certain OfficeMax employees of requesting inappropriate
promotional payments and falsified supporting documentation.Six
employees were fired when the review was completed in March 2005. Three
months later the SEC began its own investigation.
