GIANT TAIWANESE combine Hon Hai has won big orders from hardware giant Dell which will pile on the pressure on Hewlett Packard.
The Economic News of Taiwan said that Hon Hai joins Lexmark, Kodak, Samsung and Fuji Xerox in producing printers for Dell. According to the same report, Lexmark had subcontracted printer production to Benq, Compal and Funai.
The move to Hon Hai is an extension of this move and the Economic News claimed that Dell might ship as many as five million printers this year, rising to 10 million by 2007.
Sounds like HP needs to do a little bit more to prevent its printer cash cow being rustled by Dell.
