May 2008: United Stationers Inc.’s first-quarter net income fell 22%, which the company attributed to the weakening economy.The Deerfield, Ill., business product distributor’s net income dropped to $ 21.3 million, or 88 cents a share, from $27.2 million, or 90 cents a share.Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters, on average, predicted first-quarter earnings of 87 cents a share.Revenue climbed 5% to $1.25 billion from $1.19 billion a year ago, the company said.
