Xerox, Fuji team up against Kodak
    (February
2007) — Xerox Corp. and Fujifilm USA Inc. have signed deals that put
Xerox technology in the hands of photo retailers and professional photo
labs, and open another competitive skirmish between Xerox and Eastman
Kodak Co.Xerox and Fuji said today they will collaborate on a system
that will use Fuji digital processing technology and kiosks and Xerox
Phaser laser printers to produce photo books, photo calendars, greeting
cards and other customized photo products. The two companies also
announced a similar solution using Xerox DocuColor 240/250 machines for
commercial photo labs that will allow those labs to print a slew of
products from greeting cards and photo books to posters and trading
cards.“From a quality standpoint, the Xerox DocuColor 240/250 color
printer was the only product on the market that could meet the high
standards of our pro and commercial lab customers,” John Meyer, vice
president of commercial marketing, Fujifilm said in a
statement.Financial terms of the deals were not immediately disclosed.
The two companies said they would show off the technologies during the
Photo Marketing Association International’s annual trade show in Las
Vegas March 8-11.Photo retailers and commercial and professional
printers have been a traditional strong point of Kodak’s photo business.
