Xerox’s corporate recycling and
remanufacturing strategy seems to have paid off.
In 2003, the last year
for which full data is available, the company worldwide recycled 91 percent of
its non-hazardous solid waste. Almost all returned machines were reused or
recycled — about 50,000 tons worth.
Also, in 2003, Xerox recycled 6,400
tons of waste toner, steering that much solid waste away from
landfills.
Since 1991, Xerox has reused or recycled more than 1.5 billion
pounds of material
