Xerox signs big deal with Hummer maker

2006 – Xerox Corp. has signed a deal with AM General – the maker of the
military Humvee and its civilian counterpart, the Hummer – to provide
printers and copiers at the automaker’s five locations.
Xerox
would not disclose the specific value of the contract, saying only that
it was a multimillion-dollar deal. The deal includes 100 multifunction
systems that print, copy, scan and fax, Xerox said. Several other
larger systems were to be scattered throughout the five sites.The
automaker’s main print center will install a DocuTech 6135, expected to
handle up to 1 million pages a month. And AM General will use Xerox
software to connect 95 percent of its new equipment, the companies
said.AM General, headquartered in South Bend, Ind., expects to save
more than 20 percent a year on document management, Xerox said.
