Tauranga, New Zealand, The printer maker’s New Zealand and Japan businesses have initiated High Court legal action over a number of re-manufactured ink cartridges that feature Brother branding, according to Recycling Times.
The group had previously approached Cartridge World over a breach of its IP in local advertising and on refilled products sold by some franchise stores.
After an investigation, Brother claims its warnings have been ignored and the copyright infringement was still going on. It is believed all 39 Cartridge World stores in New Zealand have been reported to the authorities, with 12 already having been served writs.
