Weak first quarter: Markets for printers down in Europe.
The sale of printer hardware through distributors in Western Europe declined significantly in the first quarter, according to the latest figures from market research firm Context. Also in Germany the sales fell.

According to the analysts, 10.7 percent fewer devices were sold in this country, the sales drop was only 0.3 percent. Both the Consumer and Business segments were affected by the declines. All over Western Europe, similar trends are emerging: sales of consumer MFPs and single-function printers are declining, with strong growth in the laser and inkjet multifunction devices segments. For example, mid-price and high-price inkjet printers were in high demand: sales of s / w devices and the A3 systems of this type increased by more than 60 percent and 20 percent, respectively, compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Context expects the second quarter to be weak as well.
