    <p><font size=”4″><a href=”http://www.bizjournals.com/southflorida/search/results?q=Kevin%20Peters”>Kevin Peters</a>, president of North American operations for Office Depot, has left the company for a CEO position at an industrial distribution company, the retailer announced Friday.<br />

    <p><font size=”4″ color=”#008080″>Neil Austrian will resume the responsibilities of Office Depot’s North American business after the departure of Kevin Peters. </font></p>
    <p><font size=”4″>The office supplies retail giant announced that the separation was effective immediately and <a href=”http://www.bizjournals.com/southflorida/search/results?q=Neil%20Austrian”>Neil Austrian</a>, chairman and CEO, will oversee the company’s North American business.</font></p>
    <p><font size=”4″>”In his five years with Office Depot, Kevin was instrumental in building a strong team while driving the strategic vision for our North American sales channels and our supply chain organization,” Austrian said in a press release. “We thank him for his many contributions to our company and wish him well in the future.”</font></p>
    <p><font size=”4″>Peters led North American operations for the Boca Raton-based company<a href=”http://www.bizjournals.com/southflorida/news/2011/07/13/office-depot-announces-management.html&#8221; target=”_blank”> after it consolidated its North American Retail and North American Business Solutions division </a>in 2011.</font></p>
    <p><font size=”4″>He was responsible for all customer-facing sales channels and profit and loss issues in North America.</font></p>
    <p><font size=”4″>Phone calls to Office Depot were not immediately returned. It’s unclear whether the company has a replacement in mind.</font></p>
    <p><font size=”4″>Office Depot has undergone an array of changes in North America over the past few months, including downsizing large-format stores and opening smaller boutique-like shops.</font></p>
    <p><font size=”4″>The company also plans to shut down 10 to 20 stores in 2013 when their leases run out.</font></p>
    <p><font size=”4″>In recent news, Office Depot has faced another number of allegations of overcharging for office supplies to government agencies across the country. The <a href=”http://www.bizjournals.com/southflorida/news/2012/12/10/houston-alleges-office-depot.html&#8221; target=”_blank”>city of Houston alleged that Office Depot </a>overcharged the agency by as much as $6.6 million.</font></p>
