Ohio Senator Seeks Funding Boost for Bio-Based Products Along with Soy Ink and Toner.

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, is supporting an initiative to increase funding for bio-based products, which will hopefully create jobs in Ohio.

It’s called the "Grow it Here, Make it Here" initiative. Approximately 130 companies in Ohio already produce bio-based products, including natural pet foods, bio-based paint, along with soy ink and toner.

"The question is to get it from the laboratory to the shelves and that’s one of the things we’re trying to do, to help work together in a cooperative way to create jobs," Brown said.

The senator said the bio-based initiative is part of the overall farm bill that he hopes gets passed sometime this year.
