Xerox in $100 million deal to outsource data center
WASHINGTON
— Xerox Corp. will pay $100 million over six years to outsource
data-center services to Indian company HCL Technologies Ltd., The Wall
Street Journal reported Sunday, citing both Xerox and HCL.HCL will
manage disaster-recovery preparation for Xerox as part of the deal and
consolidate the U.S. company’s data centers in North America and
Europe, the Journal reported.Shares of Xerox finished Friday trading at
$5, up fractionally.Xerox has been restructuring to cut costs and laid
off 4,900 workers last year, according to the Journal.On March 25,
Moody’s Investors Service said it revised its ratings outlook on Xerox
to stable from positive because of the company’s announcement of weaker
first-quarter operating results.
