Chester Carlson made the first xerographic copy in 1928, and while the basic concept has not changed, the technologies used to create copies and prints has evolved. Exposure lamps have been replaced with laser beams; heater lamps have been replaced with heating elements and similarly toner technology has improved and evolved. What is toner? Toner is a fine powder primarily composed of plastic resins that is usually produced through one of two basic manufacturing methods: traditional resin toners manufactured by pulverizing raw resins and chemical polymerized toners produced through a chemical process.
