Ricoh Consolidating Locations in 12 U.S. States

Ricoh Consolidating Locations, Will Move to Bolingbrook Illinois
The move, which was announced Tuesday, is expected to bring 140 new jobs to the area.Ricoh, one of the world’s largest electronics and imaging companies, will consolidate its operations in as many as 12 states and relocate to Bolingbrook, officials announced Tuesday at the Bolingbrook village board meeting.

The company will move into a 261,554 square-foot industrial warehouse building located at 254 Internationale Boulevard—a building just south of I-55 and visible from the interstate.

There, Ricoh will house a new distribution and assembly center. The move is expected to bring 140 new jobs to the area. Overall, the company will employ more than 200 workers. The announcement drew applause from those attending the board meeting. Village officials were also extremely pleased with the deal.

"We’ve had several major business developments this year and this is clearly one that should be highlighted," Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar said. "This is great news … restaurants, hotels and retailers will certainly be happy with more traffic for them."

The development has been in the works since June, Claar said. On Tuesday, the village board approved a special use permit for the company to build an eight foot tall ornamental and chain link fence for security purposes.

John Stacy, a representative with IKON Office Solutions, Inc.—a Ricoh company—said construction crews have been preparing the building since mid-August.

Stacy said the first relocated location will move to Bolingbrook by the first week in December while several others will be moved to the location by January. The rest will be moved in gradually over the next 12 months.

Since the Bolingbrook location will serve as a distribution center and assembly line for some products, direct shipping to area business could be a possibility in the future, which would theoretically cut costs.
