Samsung tops global market sales in laser printers: IDC news
    New
Delhi: Samsung Electronics has announced that the company has jumped to
the top position in the global rankings of colour laser multifunction
printer market, thanks to innovative products launchings and strategic
    investments in overseas business.

    According to the market
research company, IDC, Samsung’s A4 colour laser multifunction printer
sold over eighty thousand units with a 30.9 per cent market share
worldwide for the second quarter this year. Samsung’s market share in
the laser multifunction market accounted for 29.4 per cent in Europe,
which was 0.5 per cent higher than the nearest competitor.

    Samsung
Electronics also made a big impact in the colour laser printer market.
The company’s printer’s market share reached 19.9 per cent to remain in
the second position worldwide for seven consecutive quarters since
2006. While the other printer vendors dropped 2 per cent of their
market share, Samsung Electronics showed the highest growth rate in
comparison with competitors with an increase of 4 per cent in the
    market share.

47 per cent, with impressive sales in  Germany, UK and the CIS region.
Samsung created a brand awareness of the printers in Italy by
introducing ads during Euro2008 soccer championships.

    According
to the Korean company, the inspiring accomplishment has been achieved
mainly due to the overseas business performance. As part of its global
expansion plans in 2008, the company held product launching shows in
Europe, South-East Asia and other major regions to announce six new
product series, such as the CLX-3175FN, the world’s smallest colour
laser multifunction printer, and the MultiXpress C8380ND, the world’s
fastest colour digital multifunction printer for enterprise customers.

    With
more new product launches expected in the second quarter of 2008, the
company is confident of retaining the number one spot in the colour
printer segment in the world. Moreover, Samsung’s regular sales growth
in South-East Asia and Europe regions also contributed to the global
    colour laser printer market.
