JOLIET, IL — A secretary for the Will County Public Defender’s office stole tens of thousands of dollars worth of printer ink that she turned around and sold on eBay, police said.
Sheri Tucker, 45, was charged with felony theft, wire fraud, official misconduct and forgery in connection with alleged office supply embezzlement.
Tucker may have stolen as much as $100,000 worth of printer ink, according to a criminal complaint on file in Will County court.
Tucker, a New Lenox resident, was a secretary in the public defender’s juvenile division. She ordered ink for the office, the complaint said, then sold it on eBay.
The alleged eBay ink-buyer was not identified in court papers.
Tucker ran her printer ink scam for more than a year and a half in 2013 and 2014, the complaint said.
The state police investigated Tucker and obtained a warrant for her arrest. The warrant, which was filed Tuesday, carries a $750,000 bond.
