SOURCE-TECHNOLOGIES & LEXMARK PITCH REMAN MICR TONER PROPAGANDA

Reused or “remanufactured” cartridges are used toner cartridges, often marketed as “compatible” MICR toner. These cartridges are acquired from unknown and unverified sources by independent toner vendors not affiliated with the printer manufacturer. The cartridges are emptied, disassembled, cleaned, reassembled and refilled with a toner mix and marketed as MICR toner.   These toner vendors are free to label their toner however they see fit, without being held to any performance standards or MICR verification.

It is impossible to achieve the quality, performance and verified yield of Source Technologies OEM MICR toners with a remanufactured MICR toner, even if that toner is labeled as compatible with Source Technologies MICR printers. The refill process is fraught with unpredictable quality and the potential for inferior toner formulations.

Using remanufactured MICR toner cartridges in a Source Technologies printer, even if that cartridge is labeled as compatible, voids the printer’s warranty and has been verified to cause expensive or irreparable damage to the printer. Using so-called compatible remanufactured MICR toner cartridges also exposes your organization to bank reject fees as these cartridges contain inferior MICR toner formulations. Finally, using remanufactured MICR toner cartridges can result in additional hidden costs as toner yields for these cartridges are often actually much lower than advertised. Ultimately, you get what you pay for.
