Steve Schmidt to lead Office Depot’s International Arm
Office Depot has named Steve Schmidt president of its international operations, filling a void created by the abrupt departure of his predecessor.Schmidt replaces Charlie Brown, who was termianted by the company for "having an improper relationship with another associate," according to a statement by CEO Neil Austrian in September.
Schmidt previously served as executive vice president for corporate strategy and new business development.
Boca Raton-based Office Depot generated $3.4 billion of its $11.63 billion in 2010 revenue from international operations in 56 countries.“Steve’s diverse business experience and leadership skills will enable us to execute our portfolio optimization strategy, continue the progress we are making in terms of business restructuring and process improvement, and help us win small- and medium-sized business customers around the globe,” Austrian said in a statement.Schmidt said he would seek more agility and efficiency in the international operations.
