STS Inks® Invents Formulations Today to Meet Tomorrow’s Printing Tech Challenges.
By Jean Cohen.
STS Inks® was founded by Shahar Turgeman in 1999, and he was joined by his business partner Adam M. Shafran in 2009. They have grown the company into the largest ink production company in the United States, making it a global leader in the wide format, industrial and household inkjet ink market. The company’s 30,000 square foot U.S. manufacturing facility handles the development, production, packaging and distribution of a huge variety of products, including premium quality inks compatible with most major bands of large format printers. STS Inks also has a worldwide network of distributors in over 150 countries throughout South America, Europe, Asia and the United States, including offices in Amsterdam and Medellin, as well as warehouses in Europe and South America for fast and easy delivery.
The company’s 30,000 square foot U.S. manufacturing facility and headquarters is located in Boca Raton, Florida, offering local employment opportunity and training for the development, production, packaging and distribution of a huge variety of products, including premium quality inks compatible with most major bands of large format printers.
STS Inks recently launched a revolutionary new formulation that will literally change the face of multiple hard surfaces. Developed by Turgeman and his team, the ink product, called Prismat-Ink, contains a special resin that gives the user a longer-lasting product to print on glass, stainless steel and other non-absorbent surfaces. Unlike prior ink formulations that used UV printing processes, Prismat-Ink is guaranteed to last for ten years.
Among the many other inks that STS manufactures to meet emerging industry needs are an edible ink that is both Halal and Kosher, invisible ink for printing on wallpaper and vinyl, direct-to-garment inks and dye sublimation ink for printing on polyester and other substrates.
STS Inks Leadership Team
Shahar Turgeman
When it comes to developing new ink formulations, STS Inks® founder Shahar Turgeman is equal parts engineer, businessman and chemist, with a measure of mad scientist thrown into the mix. Known as the “Ink Whisperer” by his colleagues, Turgeman founded STS Inks to meet the rapidly emerging challenges of myriad industries that use printing processes.
Bringing a unique background to ink formulation, sales and distribution, Turgeman has built his reputation by combining education and expertise in software and hardware engineering, chemistry and global business acumen. He is changing the ink industry, application by application, and personally holds nine patents for ink products that are made exclusively in America and widely used worldwide.
One of the benefits of Turgeman’s high-level expertise is a cost-saving opportunity for clients who can procure the highest quality customized ink formulations, without having to fund their own R&D efforts. With his rare range of skills and talents, he provides the essential link between clients and his research and development team to customize formulations for specific printers and multiple substrates.
Adam Shafran
As a long-time manufacturing industry leader, Adam Shafran brings a unique range of high level expertise to all facets of STS Inks’ company management. Joining Shahar Turgeman in 2009, Shafran has held a key role in STS Inks’ global expansion. Together, they have grown into every market, with a specific focus on ink manufacture.
Shafran’s career as a manufacturing industry leader had its roots in the baked goods sector, as the proprietor of two successful bagel shops, which he opened in New York City 1989. He successfully segued into Manhattan’s garment industry and from 1991 to 2005, built one of the country’s largest direct-to-store women’s sweater manufacturing businesses.
As a business owner in the rapidly-changing garment industry, Shafran was hands-on in every aspect of operations – finance, product development, quality control, personnel management, sales and marketing – all skills that have also contributed to the success of STS Inks. He was also involved with sourcing and importing materials, including cotton knits, acrylic, polyester and nylon which gave him the firm footing in international markets that continues to facilitate STS Inks’ worldwide growth.
Shafran’s breadth and depth of expertise, gained on the forefront of global manufacturing and distribution, complements Turgeman’s own international experience and extensive research and development talents. As STS Inks continues to expand internationally with the launch of innovative products, what they each bring to the company’s leadership is a formula for success.
