Xerox breaks ground for toner plant
Xerox Corp. broke ground today in Webster for its $59 million emulsion aggregate toner plant.
toner is used in multifunction office machines and DocuColor production printers. It is supposed to produce sharper images but use less toner per page. Xerox started making EA toner three years ago and manufactures the product at a plant in Mississauga, Ontario. The new Webster plant would more than double Xerox’s EA toner output, the company said.
Xerox plans to spend $10 million to build the six-story, 120,000-square-foot plant and ultimately add another $49 million in related investments.
Toners and other supplies are key to Xerox’s annuity strategy, which calls for the document company to pull in greater profits and ensure future revenue growth by stressing equipment sales that tie customers in to regular supply purchases.
