Xerox Golf Classic Won’t Run This Year
(Rochester,
N.Y.) – The Xerox Classic golf tournament is going on hiatus.Xerox has
decided to drop its sponsorship of the P.G.A. this year, and move those
marketing dollars into other areas.Don Jeffries, president of the
Rochester Broadway Theatre League President, who ran the tournament
said it’s too difficult to find a title sponsor right now. “We talked
to several companies…but with such difficult financial times…we decided
to put it on hold for a year…and then re-approach those same companies
next year,” he said.The Xerox Classic has been held at the Irondequoit
Country Club for the last four years.Jeffries said he hopes they can
bring the tournament back in the future.
