Xerox to Layoff 300 Employees In Oregon

Company spokesman Bill McKee told The World newspaper that workers were notified Wednesday the call centers will close July 7.

The company acquired the Coos County call centers about three years from Affiliated Computer Services.

Xerox employs about 3,000 people in Oregon, and some of the workers who are losing their jobs can apply at other centers.

Guy Tauer is a regional economist for the state Employment Department. He says recent numbers show 21,170 payroll employment jobs in Coos County. The loss of 300 jobs represents about 1.4 percent of that total.
