XEROX TO SELL HP REMANUFACTURED TONER CARTRIDGES IN 26 AFRICAN COUNTRIES

Xerox Replacement Cartridges (XRC) for HP printers

Bytes Document Solutions, authorised Xerox distributor to 26 African countries and a wholly owned member of the JSE-listed Altron Group, is making Xerox Replacement Cartridges (XRC) for HP printers available in South Africa.

The XRC for HP programme promises equivalent or better quality compared to OEM equipment – yet at significantly lower cost – and comes with the Total Performance Warranty that promises to repair or replace damaged or non-functional cartridges and printers.

“Xerox uses virgin cartridges – those that have only been used once – and strips out the blades, and replaces them with its own technology, and that reduces the cost to manufacture by between 40% and 60%,” says Craig Green, national channel manager in the Xerox division at Bytes Document Solutions.

“The greatest cost component in a cartridge is that outer case, which we re-use.”

Xerox invented laser printing and has engineering laboratories dedicated to cartridge and drum product performance. Xerox engineers its cartridges so that the page yield and performance are equal to, or better than, the OEM. Xerox won’t offer a cartridge if it won’t pass strenuous testing – from first print to last – in a variety of stressful environmental conditions.

Xerox constantly monitors the manufacturing quality, and print tests every single cartridge before packaging. It also performs monthly life testing at the manufacturing site. Lastly, technical engineers test samples from the warehouse inventory.“Some people, small, and large businesses have been exposed to poor-quality refurbished print cartridges,” says Green. “That will not happen here, and Xerox and Bytes Document Solutions are so sure of that fact that they’re willing to apply the Total Performance Warranty to prove it.”

The Total Warranty has three components:

    1. That the product is free of defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product.
    2. That the product will deliver the same high standard of quality from the first print to the last print from the cartridge.
    3. If the cartridge causes any printer damage, Xerox will cover the repair costs or replace the printer.

“Customers don’t have to worry about the quality and they get it at a significantly lower cost,” says Green. “In addition to that, these cartridges are a fine example of the five Rs of waste minimisation: reduce, re-use, recycle, recover, and residual management or disposal.”
