Q and A With Kyocera Europe’s Nick Dietmar On Coronavirus: “There will Certainly Be Some Product Bottlenecks”
The outbreak of the corona virus in China is also likely to affect supply chains in this country. What are your assessments and expectations?

Kyocera Document Solutions has production facilities in Japan, Vietnam, the Czech Republic and also in China, the latter accounting for around 25 percent of our hardware sales. Personally, I judge the current situation to be tense but solvable. As part of our worldwide ISO27001 certification, we of course also have BCP (Business Continuity Plans) which could quickly relocate production to other locations. However, this is currently not necessary. However, the priority applies to all sales pressure, the safety and health of our colleagues in production in China.

What is the current delivery situation in your company and how do you prepare for possible complications?
There will certainly be some product bottlenecks in Q2, currently our stocks in Europe are sufficient. We monitor the situation very closely and are in daily contact with both our risk management at Kyocera Corporation and the local supply chain managers. For all potentially critical products, we currently check our product allocations manually in order to actively prevent any bottlenecks. On the sales side, we are working flat out on various solution scenarios to compensate for any loss of sales. Here, we and the retail trade are helped by intensive contact with our distributors and their flexibility in terms of storage capacity.
