Canon grabs top spot in Japan`s inkjet printing market

– Canon Inc. took the lead in Japan’s inkjet printer market for the
first time in two and a half years during the January-June period,
surpassing Seiko Epson Corp., according to data released. Research firm
Gartner Japan Ltd. said that Canon’s share was 40.8 per cent in terms
of units shipped, compared with Seiko Epson’s 38.9 per cent.Overall
shipments in Japan dropped 4.3 per cent from the same period a year
earlier to 2.81 million units because of a longer replacement-demand
cycle as inkjet printers improved.
