Man Gets 2 Life Sentences in Fatal Shooting Over A Printer
A 24-year-old Las Vegas man was sentenced Wednesday to two life sentences for a 2011 fatal double shooting over a computer printer.
Marco Guzman apologized to the victims’ families before Judge David Barker handed down the sentence. Guzman will be eligible for parole after serving at least 32 years.
Guzman shot and killed Anthony Dickerson, 27, and Tamaron Clewis, 41, in June 2011 at the Sunflower Apartments complex at 1500 E. Fremont St.
Dickerson was supposed to give the printer to Guzman to pay off a debt, possibly involving drugs, when the fight began and Guzman shot him.
Guzman told investigators that Clewis then approached him with a knife and, as she turned away from him, he shot her, too. Prosecutors did not believe Clewis was holding a knife, but she may have had a crowbar.
Guzman was convicted by a jury in September of first-degree murder for Clewis’ death and second-degree murder for Dickerson’s death.
Guzman admitted he was affiliated with a gang but had no criminal history. The shootings were not related to gang activity.
Dickerson’s wife, Ambrosia Dickerson, asked Barker to deny Guzman any chance at parole. She said Dickerson was the father of six children who will never get the chance to see him again.
