Apple’s share has dipped by a marginal 0.1%, compared to the previous quarter; currently it’s 41.7%, whereas Android has increased its share by 0.2%. South Korean tech giant Samsung Group (SSNLF), , in second spot after Apple, with a 28.6% OEM market share. However, Samsung also saw a slight dip of 1.1% in its share Next in line were LG, Motorola, and HTC.

Looking at the data in terms of operating systems, then Android is clearly the winner. Apple’s iOS is second place, after Android. The big surprise is what follows on from that – Microsoft, BlackBerry, and Symbian. It should be noted that all three – Microsoft, BlackBerry, and Symbian – have shares so low, that they are practically irrelevant (together, BlackBerry and Symbian constitute less than 2% of the market).

ComScore also found the most downloaded smartphone app, for the current year February 2015, is Facebook with a 71.2% rating, trailed by perenielly popular video streaming website, YouTube, and then Google Search, Google Play, and Facebook Messenger. All these apps occupied more than 50% of all users app downloads.
