Dell’s Formidable Printer Plans
Dell’s expansion of its printer partnerships to include companies such as Eastman Kodak, Samsung and Fuji- Xerox–a joint venture of Fuji Photo Film and Xerox — should enable it to grow marketshare and eventually may alter the dynamics of the industry, according to Goldman Sachs. The research firm noted that in calendar 2003 Dell had a relatively small printer industry marketshare of 7% in the U.S. But Goldman said it could “see a scenario whereby Dell’s marketshare and installed base in calendar year 2006 could be substantial enough to begin to change printer industry dynamics.” Goldman Sachs also projected that Dell will outperform other technology companies as spending improves. Dell shares are up 21 cents at $36.04.
