Brother’s subsidiary, Brother Technology, has been audited by the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), a global organization promoting corporate social responsibility, and has received Platinum certification, the highest honor. This is the Brother Group’s second factory to achieve RBA certification and the first to achieve Platinum certification.
Brother Technology (Shenzhen) Ltd. is a manufacturing facility in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, China, producing printers and multifunction devices. The company recently underwent an audit by a third-party organization certified by the RBA and was recognized in the categories of labor, safety, environment, ethics, supply chain management and responsible management in implementation. With the highest possible score of 200, the work received the first platinum certification for the Brother Group.
The RBA is a global organization whose member companies are committed to meeting their social responsibilities by building sustainable supply chains. Their Code of Conduct sets strict standards so that working conditions are safe, workers are treated with respect and dignity, and business operations are environmentally sustainable and ethical. The organization calls on its members to monitor compliance with the respective standards through appropriate management systems. The RBA audit is a system whereby an audit organization assesses whether humane and reliable corporate governance is carried out in accordance with the Code of Conduct. The assessment is carried out through a third-party on-site audit and, depending on the score, a Silver (160 points or more), Gold (180 points or more) or Platinum (200 points) certification is awarded.
The Brother Group has identified five essential aspects to “contribute to society and protect the earth”. These are defined in the Brother Group vision called “At your side 2030”. One of these aspects is a responsible value chain. Therefore, the group has set the goal of achieving RBA Gold certification for three of the group’s production facilities by the 2024 financial year.
The Brother Group pledges to continue to contribute to a sustainable society by respecting the human rights of workers across its global supply chain, ensuring a safe working environment through the RBA Code of Conduct, and aligning its sourcing with CSR criteria.
