TOKYO, July 22, 2026 — Canon Inc. has successfully forced the removal of certain OGOUGUAN-brand toner cartridge offerings from selected European Amazon marketplaces, escalating the printer giant’s ongoing enforcement campaign against third-party cartridges it believes violate its intellectual property rights. The cartridges were offered by China-based Zhuhai Ouguan Electronic Technology Co., Ltd., and Canon says the products infringe European Patent EP 4,235,315 (EP ’315), covering technology related to a process cartridge detachably mountable to an image-forming device. Canon used multiple enforcement methods—including Amazon’s infringement-reporting tools, letters of inquiry and formal intellectual-property notices—to get the targeted offerings removed. The action is another warning to manufacturers, importers, toner dealers and online sellers that compatible cartridges offered on Amazon Europe can face removal when Canon believes patented technology is being used without authorization. Canon continues to aggressively defend its toner cartridge patents across global e-commerce marketplaces, putting increased pressure on Chinese aftermarket cartridge manufacturers and sellers whose products may potentially conflict with Canon’s intellectual property rights.
