Czech Republic Association of Reman Toner Sues and Win Vs. Local Chinese Clone Toner Resellers.
The Czech Association of Toner Renovators, a group of honest toner cartridge remanufacturers, won a landmark lawsuit against ROYAL office & telecom s.r.o., who are resellers and distributors of Chinese Printwell clone toner cartridges for HP CE505A/CF280A and other models.
The Regional Court in Prague ruled in favor of the plaintiffs and ordered the defendant to stop selling these counterfeit clone cartridges that infringed on Canon Kabushiki Kaisha’s patents. They were made to pay all legal fees, and to be more cautious about the origin of their products in the future.
The Czech Association of Toner Renovators, who filed the lawsuit without Canon’s involvement, hailed the court’s decision as a landmark win and announced their intention to sue more infringers in the near future. The case number is 76 Cm 78/2023 – 125 and the date of the verdict was on November 15, 2023.
