Epson Europe Ends Laser Printer Sales Two Years Ahead of 2026 Goal.
Epson Europe has officially wrapped up sales of laser printers across the region, fulfilling a commitment made two years ago and accelerating its global sustainability agenda. This shift comes two years ahead of the company’s global target, set for 2026, marking a significant milestone in Epson’s ongoing mission to revolutionize printing with its Heat-Free inkjet technology.

The decision to phase out laser printers stems from Epson’s vision to prioritize environmental sustainability. Unlike traditional laser printers, which rely on heat to fuse toner to paper, Epson’s Heat-Free inkjet technology uses no heat in its operation, dramatically reducing energy consumption. This efficiency allows Epson to deliver high-performance prints while significantly lowering its carbon footprint.

To replace the laser printers, Epson has expanded its portfolio of Heat-Free inkjet solutions, offering options that cater to a wide range of business needs—from small offices with low-volume print demands to large enterprises with high-volume requirements.

The latest additions to this lineup are the WorkForce Pro EP-C7000DW and WorkForce Pro EM-C7100DWF—two A3 inkjet models designed for high-quality, energy-efficient colour printing. Capable of printing up to 25 pages per minute, these printers offer a cost-effective alternative to laser, ideal for small offices and teams needing robust colour printing at a competitive cost.

Both models boast high-yield ink cartridges and large paper capacities, meaning fewer interruptions and greater efficiency for users. Their duplex printing capabilities and lower energy consumption not only reduce operational costs but also contribute to resource conservation.

Umardeep Sappal, Head of Business Sales at Epson Europe, said: “Our entire business is now 100% focused on Heat-Free inkjet technology, which enables us to provide more efficient and sustainable print solutions for both our partners and customers. Ending the sale of laser printers in Europe, two years ahead of our 2026 goal, underscores our commitment to creating a more sustainable future.”

Industry analysts from IDC predict that the business inkjet market in Western Europe will grow at a robust pace of +7.6% from 2023 to 2028, while the laser market is expected to decline by -2.2% over the same period—further validating Epson’s strategic shift toward inkjet technology as the future of printing.
