EPSON LOOKS BEYOND PRINTERS: $1.8 Billion Industrial Push Targets Inkjet, Robots & Microdevices.

Epson is expanding beyond traditional printing as the company accelerates its shift toward industrial inkjet, robotics, microdevices and advanced manufacturing technologies. The Japanese technology giant is targeting new growth opportunities in Korea, where semiconductor, display, battery and other high-tech manufacturers are creating demand for precision industrial technology. Epson is leveraging its industrial inkjet technology and precision printheads for applications beyond conventional document printing, including displays, solar cells, textiles and other manufacturing processes. At the same time, Epson robotics and microdevices are becoming increasingly important parts of the company’s long-term strategy. Epson aims to increase its industrial businesses from about 33% of total sales to 50% by 2035 and plans to invest approximately ¥280 billion, or about $1.8 billion, over the next three years in growth initiatives. While Epson printers and printing technology remain a core part of the business, the company’s expansion into industrial inkjet printing, robotics, microdevices and precision manufacturing signals a broader transformation from a traditional printer manufacturer into an industrial technology company.
