The European Union has slammed Chinese shopping giant Temu with a staggering €200 million fine after regulators accused the ultra-cheap online marketplace of flooding Europe with illegal and potentially dangerous products while allegedly turning a blind eye to consumer safety. The European Commission said Temu violated the Digital Services Act by failing to properly identify and control systemic risks tied to counterfeit goods, unsafe electronics, fake branded products, and non-compliant imports being sold across the platform. The penalty marks one of the most aggressive crackdowns yet against fast-growing Chinese e-commerce companies accused of exploiting loopholes to dump low-cost products into Western markets.
