The European Toner and Inkjet Remanufacturers Association (ETIRA) says it welcomes Kyoto Club’s decision to revoke the eLabel! environmental certification for S.E.A. s.r.l., an Italian manufacturer of remanufactured printer cartridges. According to ETIRA, the association had previously urged Kyoto Club to re-examine S.E.A.’s certification, arguing that independent eco-labels must be supported by rigorous auditing and strict enforcement to maintain credibility. ETIRA says the withdrawal confirms there were valid concerns about the certification and is now calling on public authorities to review government contracts awarded based on S.E.A.’s former eco-label status. The association argues that reliable environmental certifications are essential to ensure fair competition, prevent misleading environmental claims, and guarantee that government agencies and customers receive genuinely sustainable printer cartridges rather than products that fail to meet certified environmental standards.
