Network-connected printers and multifunction devices are increasingly becoming an IT security concern, with Fujifilm Business Innovation, Sharp, Kyocera and Ricoh all having printer or MFP vulnerabilities documented in 2026. The newest major alert involves CVE-2026-78249, a path-traversal vulnerability affecting multiple Fujifilm and Sharp MFPs that could allow an attacker with access to the device’s web-management interface and sufficient privileges to obtain sensitive information stored on the machine; Fujifilm’s security notice says fixed firmware is being provided, while Sharp’s advisory identifies affected North American BP-1360M and BP-1250M models and recommends firmware updates, strong administrator passwords and firewall protection. The Japan Vulnerability Notes database gives CVE-2026-78249 a CVSS 4.0 score of 6.9. Meanwhile, Ricoh’s vulnerability database lists multiple 2026 issues involving MFPs and printers, including SSH, cross-site scripting and open-redirect vulnerabilities, while Kyocera has separately disclosed a KX printer-driver security flaw. The growing list highlights a major industry issue: printers and MFPs are no longer isolated office machines but network-connected endpoints that can require the same firmware, password and security management as other business IT equipment.
