Fujifilm is making major moves at both ends of the printing industry, from high-end digital flexible packaging to large-scale remanufacturing. The company has announced the first sale of its FUJIFILM J Press FP790 flexible packaging press in the Americas to Quantum Flex Pack, marking the sixth global installation of the high-speed digital press. Although the official purchase price was not disclosed, industry estimates suggest a complete FP790 installation could cost around $2 million to $3 million, or approximately $2.5 million depending on configuration and equipment. At the same time, Fujifilm has begun full-scale operations at a new industrial remanufacturing center in the Philippines, expanding the reuse and refurbishment of multifunction printers and components across the Asia-Pacific region. The two developments highlight Fujifilm’s expanding strategy: investing heavily in advanced digital printing technology while also embracing industrial-scale remanufacturing, a business model long associated with the aftermarket and circular economy. As print manufacturers face pressure to reduce waste, extend product life and improve production efficiency, Fujifilm is betting that both multimillion-dollar digital presses and large-scale equipment remanufacturing will play an increasingly important role in the future of the global printing industry.
