In a remarkable act of social responsibility, the outgoing District Commissioner (DC) of Meghalaya turned a farewell occasion into a powerful initiative for youth with disabilities. Instead of a traditional send-off, the DC helped establish a Xerox and photocopy shop to provide sustainable employment and livelihood opportunities for differently-abled youth in the region. The initiative not only offers a steady source of income but also promotes skill development, self-reliance, and social inclusion for persons with disabilities. Widely praised by the local community, the project highlights how compassionate leadership and thoughtful public service can create long-term positive impact and empower marginalized groups in society.
