HP Inc. delivered a surprisingly strong fiscal Q2 2026, with total revenue climbing 9% year-over-year to $14.4 billion, largely fueled by booming PC demand tied to AI-ready computers and the ongoing Windows 11 refresh cycle. But while HP’s PC business looked healthy, the company’s printing division once again showed why the printer market remains a slow-growth grind. Printing revenue came in at $4.2 billion, essentially flat from a year ago, though still highly profitable with an impressive 18.3% operating margin. Consumer printing continued to weaken, falling 10%, while commercial print stayed flat and supplies revenue managed a modest 1% increase. Even more telling, printer hardware sales dropped 7% overall, with both consumer and commercial units declining, signaling that fewer people and businesses are buying new printers even as HP squeezes steady profits from ink and toner sales. In classic HP fashion, the printers may not be flying off shelves anymore, but the ink business is still printing money. (Stock Titan)
