AI crypto scams and smartphone repair failures are putting Big Tech under fresh scrutiny. HP Research: Cybercriminals Leaning into Agentic AI Momentum to Steal Crypto Wallets HP Wolf Security says cybercriminals are now exploiting the Agentic AI craze by promoting fake AI trading agents that secretly install malware and replace legitimate browser crypto-wallet extensions such as MetaMask and Coinbase Wallet with malicious copies designed to steal credentials. Meanwhile, the European smartphone industry is facing an equally uncomfortable question: Are manufacturers actually following the EU’s repair rules—or simply giving themselves good grades? Smartphone Makers Fail To Comply With EU Repair Law A Right to Repair Europe review of 2,334 smartphone records found that only about 18% listed websites where required repair instructions or spare-parts prices could readily be found, while roughly half had blank URL fields and another 19% pointed to pages without the required information. Even more controversial, the repairability scores are largely self-reported by manufacturers, raising questions about how meaningful an “A” repairability rating is when consumers may struggle to find the basic information needed to actually repair the phone. With the EU simultaneously tightening consumer repair rights and cybersecurity threats becoming more sophisticated, consumers are increasingly caught between two very different technology problems: software designed to trick them and hardware rules that manufacturers are being accused of failing to follow.
